Dear Friends, It's that time of year again: the avalanche danger is shrinking and another book about the adventures (misadventures, really) of the Burns brothers was released at the end of April. It's time to either get outside for skiing and climbing or experience it vicariously through a book. Or maybe both. In my new book, called BADWATER, Antonio finds himself in even deeper hot water. He's forced to confront all he'd once believed about justice and the law when he finds himself as the chief witness against a man he believes just may be innocent. Not only that, Ant's also the target of people who very much want that man found guilty. At the same time he has to face what's left of the big brother he once worshipped, and, even worse, he has to ask his damaged brother to make an even bigger, riskier sacrifice than anything that's come before. You can read the first chapter of BADWATER on my website. If you pick up the book and climb inside, I hope it will take you for a good, long ride. Additionally, the previous Burns brother title, CROSSING THE LINE, recently came out in paperback. That's the book in which Ant starts his exploration of the dark side of the law, and Roberto, his drug-addicted brother, begins his ascent toward the light. At the moment I'm hard at work on a stand-alone novel in order to give Antonio and Roberto a much-deserved rest. The stuff I've put them through recently hasn't been very nice. I'm also spending a good amount of time wrestling with my boys and training (read playing) in the mountains for an attempt on Mt. Rainier's Liberty Ridge. If all goes well, it will be on to bigger and higher things, both in the mountains and on the page. I
hope that you and yours are having fun and getting outside. To
